A look at the season's statistics

Old Priorians Saints finished their season in the penultimate week of March, so it's high time we took a look at some of the statistics that make up the 2024/25 campaign.

TEAM STATS

- The 2nd XV ended up playing twelve fixtures in Middlesex Merit Table Division 1, not including four walkovers (one win, three losee from those four matches), the league season reduced to sixteen games with Hammersmith and Fulham III having withdrawn from the league.

- They finished seventh in the league, their fifth best finish at this level, amassing 58 points, which is their third best in Division 1 since they joined the Merit Tables at the tale end of the 2000s.

- Just focusing on the matches physically played, the Saints scored 283 points, conceding 300 - leading to an average full time score of a 25-23 loss. Of the twelve matches played, they won five and lost seven, with two defeats being by a single point (versus Grasshoppers and London Japanese).

- The biggest win came against Hackney on the 9th November 2024, a 43-5 win at Spring Hill, with their biggest loss a 44-7 loss away to Finchley on the 8th February 2025.

PLAYER STATS

POINTS

- There is a clear leader in terms of the most points scored for the Saints - Cian McBride. Splitting his time on the pitch between scrum-half and fly-half, McBride acrrued 54 points from 8 games, coming from two tries, nineteen conversions and two penalties ; he also passed an appearance landmark, having reached 100 appearances for OPRFC.

- The following top scorers all came from those who scored tries - Chris Flavell, Adam Gurdikyan and James Sarek scored four tries each to end up with 20 points each. These three also constitute the top try scorers for the season.

- Four players scored three tries - Elvin Grant, David Jobling, Elliot Lycett and Charlie Page, with six having scored two tries.

- Six players scored points from the boot - McBride, Emilio Uribe, Michael Jobling, Jack Wheeler, Tomek Tsang and Coel Ellis - the last of these holding the distinction of both scoring the final points of the league season, as well as being the first forward to score points from the boot this decade for the club, a record that may well stretch further back.

- In terms of Points Per Game, McBride is once again well ahead in the metric (a rule of a minimum of five games is implemented for fairness), at 6.00 PPG. Flavell's four tries from six games puts him at 3.33 PPG, while Gurdikyan finishes third with 2.5 PPG.

- With the five game rule taken away, the Jobling brothers - Michael and David - find themselves in the mix, the former taking the crown with 9 PPG from his one outing for the Saints, while the latter has 7.5 PPG, having scored three tries in two games, the same as Charlie Page who ends on the same points per game.
