Twisters outclassed by Amersham

Old Priorian were outclassed by Amersham and Chiltern at Ash Grove on Saturday, with the hosts running in 59 points and boosting their credentials as one of the promotion favourites following their relegation from Regional 1 last season.

The Twisters fell behind in the opening minute as Amersham exploited an overlap to score out wide, Will Taylor's penalty putting OPRFC on the board soon after to make it 5-3. The rest of the half belonged to Chiltern, however, as they ran in another four tries to wrap up a bonus point well before the half time whistle, repelling any promising OPs attacks to keep them away from the whitewash within the first forty minutes.

Priorians started the second half with positivity, a great carry forward by Kimen Nyam proving to be a catalyst for success as the ball was the moved towards the centres with Barney Morris going in under the posts, Taylor converting to make it 31-10. Amersham then hit back with two tries to vanquish any faint hopes of a comeback and extend their lead out to 45-10, Cathal Sheehan opening his account for OPs as the next scorer.

Amersham dominated much of the game and were able to add two more tries to their name before the final whistle, Ollie Mayes adding another for the Twisters to make it 59-24 at full time, OPs missing out on a try bonus point.

This was always likely to be a difficult fixture to open the season with and so it proved, yet there will be positives to take away from the match, especially in some of the attacking phases.

Next up for OPRFC is Marlow at home on the 3rd October.
