Old Priorians achieved their third straight win with a big victory at Grasshoppers, Mishka Fibbens scoring a hat trick as the Twisters ran in nine tries in the Syon Lane sunshine.
Despite playing against the wind in the first half, OPs shared fifty points in the opening forty minutes with their hosts as they went into the break 26-24 up, the lead changing hands four times in a frantic frenzy of running rugby.
Priorians opened the scoring early on through a trademark Fibbens crash from short range following good work from the team to move into the opposition 22, Grasshoppers conceding a penalty to set foundations for the try. A stolen lineout down the other end of the pitch gave Hoppers the lead for the first time.
Another penalty handed the onus back to the visitors who replicated the first effort, Luis Gomez-Rose coming up with the ball, followed by the most fruitful period for Grasshoppers who put another on the board to edge ahead at 17-12 around the half hour. Two scores for OPs late in the half (Gomez-Rose and Funbi Osuntoki) reversed the difference and more, only for Hoppers to bring an exciting half to an end with a try from the kick off, half time sounded directly after.
The second half was a very different story, Priorians able to run in five tries, the pick of the bunch an interception by Barney Morris who then sprinted 90 metres to the line. Fibbens got two more to make it a hat trick, Charles Harte and Will Taylor sharing kicking duties between them to put some extra sheen on the final score.
Well worked interplay and a supreme attacking force were the key factors in this weekend's win, mixing the styles between forwards and backs to more than decent effect. Grasshoppers will be happy with their first half showing but concerns may well be appearing with roughly a quarter of the season gone ; however, they did take a try bonus point from the fixture.
OPRFC have a rest week before they play Beaconsfield on the 8th November.
