A look back on the season's statistics

With the Regional 2 Thames season having finished around a month and a half ago, it's high time we took a look at the 1st XV statistics for the 2024/25 season.

Team Stats

- The Twisters scored 620 points for, and conceded 609 points against in their 22 leagues, for an average full time score of 28-27

- Sixth most points for in Regional 2 Thames - equal to their finishing position - and seventh most conceded. They also hold the third most try bonus points in the league (15)

- An eight match unbeaten run, beginning with a 29-25 victory against Hemel Hempstead on 14th December 2024, is the best winning sequence at level 6 in the history of OPRFC

- Their biggest win of the season came against Aylesbury on the 1st February,a 59-7 victory at home

- The biggest loss a 57-27 loss to Belsize Park on 19th October 2024, also at home

- 47 players were used across the season, with 33 of those coming through St Benedict's School rugby development (70%)

- There were 88 tries by 29 different scorers ; of that 29, 15 were forwards and 14 were backs, a split of 52%-48%

- 48 of the 88 tries were scored by forwards and 40 by backs, equivalent to a 55%-45% split

- 60% of the players who represented the 1st XV during the 2024/25 campaign scored at least one try

Player Stats

Appearances

- Following in the footsteps of Mishka Fibbens during the 2023/24 season, David Howe was the only player to have taken part in all 22 league fixtures, starting every game and the leading appearance maker for the 1st XV in 2024/25. Guy Djedje and Brohdie Cunningham are in joint second having only missed one game each for 21 appearances (the latter in his first season at the club), Michael Jobling in third with 19.

Points

-Emilio Uribe topped the points scoring chart for the Twisters, having accrued 92 points via a try, 30 conversions and 9 penalties. He is also the club's top scorer for the season with 104 points, having also slotted 12 points for the 2nd XV versus Quintin.

- Will Taylor was the second top points scorer with 69 (3 tries, 21 conversions, 4 penalties), Tomek Tsang third (12 tries)

- The trio are also the top scoring backs in the campaign

- Tsang is the top try scorer for the season with 12, followed by Luis Gomez-Rose & James Paxman who both finished with 9, then Mishka Fibbens with 8.

- Four players scored from the boot - Uribe, Taylor, Jobling and Matt Ilube - Ilube also became the first player to receive a full international cap while at OPRFC, making his debut for Nigeria in December 2024

Points Per Game

- Cathal Sheehan tops the chart for points per game (using the five game minimum rule), scoring 7 tries in his games for an average of 5.83 PPG. Uribe is not far behind in second, ending up with 5.75, then Tsang with 4.28
