The penultimate week of Regional 2 Thames action has finished, with most positions in the league now settled for the season ; let's take a look at how everyone got on.
Aylesbury 29-10 Teddington
Aylesbury secured the final promotion playoff spot with an excellent second half performance against Teddington, turning over a tight first half to run out fairly comfortable winners at Ostler's Field as the Antlers saw their own playoff hopes crumble.
Teddington led 5-3 at half time, before the hosts took control of proceedings, Will Andrews instrumental with a brace, Ben Knight and Archie Underwood supplementing to make sure of all five points.
That bonus point - along with Teddington being unable to take anything from the match - has proved to be crucial, as Aylesbury take fifth place and have 62 points, their visitors on 55 and in seventh heading into the final week of action.
Beaconsfield 33-29 Belsize Park
Beaconsfield all but secured second place after beating Belsize Park at Windsor End, Belsize now having to be content with an away tie in the first round of the playoffs.
The Beaconsfield tries came from five different scorers in a close run affair that befit the two side's positions in the table, Freddie Hooper also contributing four conversions out of five for the home side to make sure of the victory.
This takes Beaconsfield up to 87 points, needing just one point from their final league fixture against Aylesbury to make sure of 2nd, where they would then face the same side in consecutive weeks at the same ground.
Belsize Park - who haven't been on the greatest run of form in the run-in - are sure of fourth place in defeat, taking 76 points from their 21 games and will be on the road to Marlow for the final round.
Brunel University 60-39 Marlow
A high scoring affair in the very west of London, Brunel eventually overcoming a very stubborn Marlow to come from behind to win as the already promoted university side passed 100 league points for the season.
While never behind in the first half, Brunel were pegged back by Marlow several times and went into the break with a 29-22 lead ; however, good attacking rugby by the visitors in the first quarter of the second half saw them take the lead, with a win vital to their chances of making the promotion playoffs.
However, as has often been the case this season, Brunel's superior fitness told, scoring four unanswered tries before one for Marlow and another for themselves to take the game out of sight and ending Marlow's season in terms of something to play for.
Brunel move up to 102 points, the first side to break the hundred point barrier in this league since the restructure and the first since North Walsham in 2019-20. Marlow are in 6th on 55 points, unable to catch Aylesbury who are in 5th and seven points ahead.
Harpenden 43-26 Grasshoppers
There was last gasp drama for Grasshoppers as Redbourn Lane as a Josh Harper try in the final play of the game assured his side of level 6 rugby for 2026-27, the try bonus point enough to keep them in the league despite a convincing win for Harpenden.
A scoreless first quarter finally gave way at the mercurial Oli Johnson went over after 25 minutes, adding a conversion and then a penalty to his tally as the hosts lead 10-0 at the break.
Grasshoppers were right back in it through Louis Brown's try early on in the second (converted), but three tries for Harpenden via Zeph Nkomo's double and Connor Underwood took the prospect of victory out of the hands of the Osterley outfit.
Billy Graham-Park and Jack Walkenden helped take it to 29-19 and three tries, before Alex Birch and Matt Shaw put pure daylight between the two sides. And so to the final play - advancing into the Harpenden 22, Grasshoppers needed to be calm under pressure and it was Harper who duly delivered to much travelling relief with the fourth try secured and Regional 2 Thames rugby on the horizon for another year.
Harpenden are finishing the season strongly and now have 53 points in eighth place and could finish as high as sixth, while Grasshoppers are on 47 points from 21 games, five ahead of London Irish Wild Geese but safe by virtue of the number of games they have won.
London Irish Wild Geese 50-21 Oxford Harlequins II
London Irish were confirmed as the second side to be taking part in the survival playoffs despite a big win against winless Oxford Quins II, Wild Geese perhaps left to rue their poor start to the season.
An extra victory this season would have seen Irish go into their final fixture against Grasshoppers with everything to play for but instead now face the prospect of a home playoff against Windsor on the 18th April. They currently have 42 points in 10th place.
Oxford now looked destined to end the season without having won a game, both scoring the least and conceding the most in the division as their points against tally passes 1,000 points. They are cut adrift with 13 points in twelfth position, eighteen points behind eleventh placed Windsor.
Windsor 12-29 OPRFC
Old Priorians took at least third spot in the league and a home tie in the promotion playoffs, battling to victory against a stubborn Windsor as they raced away in the final five minutes for another bonus point win.
Windsor started well and went over early, Josh Chippendale's interception try levelling things up before Will Taylor gave OPs the lead ; he went over again following good work from a lineout as the Twisters led 19-7 at half time.
The Twisters had players sent to the bin on separate occasions and Windsor capitalised, getting back into the game before a fairly extended period of pressure, unable to breach the Priorians line as the penalties count racked up for the visitors.
Finally able to get some momentum, a Taylor penalty followed by a final minute try for Mishka Fibbens made for what looked like a comfortable enough win in Buckinghamshire.
OPRFC have 83 points in third, Windsor 31 in 11th, both now in the playoffs at the opposite ends of the table.
