After a short hiatus, our Regional 2 Thames round up returns as we look at the games that took place on the 7th December in the eleventh round of fixtures.
The effects of Storm Darragh were keenly felt, with the following games postponed to a later date :
Belsize Park v Grasshoppers (to be played 25th January 2025)
Marlow v Teddington (to be played 8th February 2025)
Four games did end up going ahead, starting with :
H.A.C 38-5 Aylesbury
H.A.C were comfortable winners at their iconic Armoury House home ground against a seemingly depleted Aylesbury, who mustered a single try on their way to their fifth consecutive away defeat of the season.
Meanwhile, the hosts stretch their unbeaten home run to nine games and return to the top of the table, with 48 points from 11 games. Aylesbury are in eighth, three home wins along with three losing bonus points giving them 21 points so far.
Hemel Hempstead 0-7 London Irish Wild Geese
A single try from Wild Geese centre Joe Srokowski was the difference between them and Hemel Hempstead on Saturday afternoon in the lowest scoring game of the season so far, Hemel defending manfully for the greater part of the match having had a man sent off in the first half.
Srokowski's score in the opening 40 minutes was enough to secure a win for Irish but does mean they were unable to achieve maximum points, taking four from this fixture and are in fourth with 38 points.
Camelot's difficult season continues, but a solitary losing point moves them to 16 points, though they remain in eleventh position.
London Scottish Lions 29-5 Old Priorians
London Scottish Lions continued their impressive form in Regional 2 Thames with a bonus point win against OPRFC, who have now lost their last six games.
Three first half tries from Aaron Perrin, Lachie Lowick (later awarded Player of the Match) and Jem Edwards gave the hosts a 19-0 lead at the break, extending their advantage further just before the hour through Harry Churchill.
OPs got themselves on the scoreboard with a trademark rolling maul try for Mishka Fibbens 65 minutes in, the only other score being a late Tye James penalty for Scottish to end the game at 29-5.
The result is enough to keep the Lions in second place just behind H.A.C, whom they have game in hand over following last week's abandoned fixture against Teddington ; the current top two meet in the league on the 4th January 2025.
OPRFC's struggles continue and they are currently teetering just above the relegation zone with 21 points in ninth place, heading into a crucial fixture against Hemel Hempstead next Saturday.
London Scottish Lions 29-5 Old Priorians
Old Haberdashers' 5-21 Beaconsfield
Basement club Old Haberdashers' made it ten defeats for the 2024/25 campaign with a home loss to Beaconsfield, who maintain a potential promotion charge as they look to hunt down the leading pack.
Habs are now nine points adrift at the bottom of Regional 2 Thames, which could be further compounded if Teddington are able to take anything from their two games in hand - and face the top two in successive weeks before the Christmas break.
Beaconsfield are just a point behind London Irish and sit in fifth place, a comfortable gap appearing between them and sixth place Grasshoppers, with the promotion, mid-table and relegation faultlines appearing to be clearly set.
That completes the round up for this week. For full fixtures, results and the table for Regional 2 Thames, please visit the RFU website :
