The second round of fixtures in Regional 2 Thames are now complete, so let's take a look at how the twelve teams in the league got on this weekend just gone.
Aylesbury 59-19 Windsor
Aylesbury continued their winning ways with a big win against Windsor in a nine try victory at Ostler's Lane.
The hosts led 26-7 at the break with tries from William Andrews, Ben Amos as well as a brace for flanker Jack Tominey, who then went on to secure his hat trick in the second half, following in the footsteps of Matthew Hawes who scored thrice last week.
Alex Shearer impressed once again with the boot, contributing 14 points, the rest of the scorers consisting of James Philips (twice), Nicholas Mercer and Samuel Page, Windsor unable to get anything out of the fixture.
Aylesbury currently find themselves top of the table after two home wins, ahead on points difference, while two losses sees Windsor at the opposite end.
Beaconsfield 27-12 Marlow
A good second half performance from Beaconsfield saw them beat Marlow at Windsor End, the visitors having held a lead at the break before being beaten to zero in the second half.
Marlow got the first points of the afternoon via an interception try in the opening two minutes, Beaconsfield able to peg them back soon after, a missed kick to touch from a penalty punished by the hosts.
Marlow's second came in the same fashion as another pass was stolen in flight as they raced in under the posts ; a fairly easy conversion was drop-kicked wide to make it 12-7. Beaconsfield were awarded a penalty minutes later to reduce arrears to two points, which is how it stayed as the half time whistle blew, despite the fact Beaconsfield were down to twelve players at one point following three yellow cards.
The home side finally took the lead with around half an hour to play, then moved further ahead via a 56th minute penalty ; they rounded off the scoring five minutes from time following some lax Marlow defence, ending the game 27-12 victors.
No try bonus point for the winners as they ended the fixure with three tries - taking four points in all - Marlow coming away with zero. Beaconsfield are sixth, Marlow in eleventh position.
Grasshoppers 14-31 Brunel University
Brunel were given a stern first half test by Grasshoppers before pulling away in the second half at Syon Lane to maintain their 100% winning start in Regional 2 Thames following promotion to the division.
Grasshoppers full back Chris Brown gave his side an early lead, but Brunel hit back with two tries of their own to go into the break with a slender 12-7 lead. They then took full control of the second half, running in three more tries to put the match beyond their West London counterparts. Callum McCormack got a late consolation for Hoppers, the match ending 31-14 in favour of the visitors.
One of four unbeaten teams in the league, Brunel are in fourth place while Grasshoppers are in seventh.
OPRFC 61-33 London Irish Wild Geese
OPs ended the weekend as the top scorers with a thumping win over London Irish Wild Geese, leading 47-14 at the break before taking their foot off the gas a little in the second 40 minutes with Wild Geese grabbing a try bonus point.
A nine try effort saw a double for Rory Gaffney, as well as a debut try for Charlie Harte and Timmy Oyinlola's first for the 1st XV. Michael Jobling was on good form at fly half with eight conversions from nine, the 94 points scored between the two teams the most of any fixture in Regional 2 Thames this round.
This puts Old Priorians fifth in the league, Irish losing their opening two games but amassing three points to find themselves in ninth.
Oxford Harlequins II 24-41 Belsize Park
Belsize Park fought back from being 19-5 down to win 41-24 away from home to Oxford Harlequins and continue their good start to the 2025/26 campaign.
Four tries from the hosts - the first club to have entered a 2nd XV in this division at this level - was enough to give them a try bonus point, Belsize taking a maximum to put them third in the table, just ahead of Brunel.
Teddington 32-7 Harpenden
A very impressive win for Teddington against Harpenden puts them in the early promotion mix, a four try bonus point victory despite going down to fourteen at two separate points in the match.
A busy opening ten minutes saw Henry Galligan dot down for Teddington with Harpenden hitting back soon after. Harry Smith got a second for the Bushy Park outfit, Galligan grabbing a second within the first quarter as the home side pulled into a healthy lead at half time, even with Oliver Holland's early yellow card.
Industry from the boot of Bob Beevers kept the scoreboard ticking over as the match heading into the last quarter ; Harpenden were unable to make any way through Teddington's defence despite another yellow card, Harry Smith's effort to make it a brace putting extra sheen on the result to end the tie 32-7.
Seemingly much improved from last season, Teddington are currently second in the table, Harpenden unable to build on a good win last week and are in eighth place.
