Teddington RFC was originally formed in 1966 as Antlers RFC, playing their first ever game in September of that year against Ditchling at their first ground in Home Park, Hampton Wick ; the club moved to Bushy Park in 1969 where they remain to this day.
The 1970s proved to be somewhat of a heyday for Teddington, regularly putting out five teams as well as reaching the quarter finals of the prestigious Middlesex Cup. The Antlers, like many, joined the league structure in 1987. In the same year, the South-West London side also became one of the first clubs in the UK to form a Women's section, which is still going strong and competing in National Challenge 2 South East.
The late 2000s saw a period of sustained success for Teddington after finding themselves at the bottom of the league pyramid in Surrey 4. Giselle Mather - recently appointed the head coach of the Great Britain Women's 7s - became the first woman to coach a men's senior side in the UK, guiding the 1st XV to a 62 game unbeaten run, two national trophies (the RFU Junior Vase in 2010 and the RFU Senior Vase in 2011), as well as beating Old Priorians in the Middlesex Bowl around the same time.
A rise to London 2 (level 7) in the mid 2010s was followed by a slow decline back down to Surrey 1 (level 9) towards the end of the decade, before back-to-back promotions in 2022/23 and 2023/24 saw them rise to level 6 and Regional 2 Thames for the 2024/25 season, losing just one game in that period.
The club's biggest win was against Old Wimbledonians on 5th March 2011, a 117-5 victory in London 3 South West, with the biggest loss against Portsmouth on 12th January 2019 (79-0) in the same league. OPs and Teddington have never met in the league but have one competitive meeting against each other, the aforementioned Middlesex Bowl Final which the Antlers won 16-11.
