Forget New York, Paris or Milan - Perivale is the new centre of global fashion, following a landmark partnership between Old Priorians and French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier.
Gaultier - famous for creating designs for the likes of Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and more - has now turned his attention to rugby, naming this particular collection 'Joue'. Gaultier himself said :
'I popped down to Perivale for a game towards the start of the current season and was very taken with the kits ; I thought it was about time to turn my attention to the sporting world and OPs seems like the natural place to start."
In a slight depature from recent kits, the Paris born fashionsman has added some extra creative flair to the playing shirts, including spikes, a safety pin and a large zipped pocket on the left shoulder, presumably to keep a gumshield in, or possibly sweets. There is a tasteful black lace on each flank, across the sternum and on the bottom of the shorts. As a final touch, the OPRFC badge will temporarily be replaced by the iconic anchor.
Replacements won't go empty handed, though - Gaultier has also designed a coat in a similar style, with gowns, gloves and footwear available from the club shop for supporters, with the gloves the most most inexpensive item available, slated for a starting price of £250.
All designs will be subject to ratificiation by the RFU ; if approved, merchandise should be available to purchase from the club shop from early summer onwards, with replica shirts touted for a limited edition run at the start of 2027.
