London 2 North West Round Up

James Sarek21 Feb 2022 - 17:26

Reviewing Saturday's fixtures

Most teams have now played 18 games in London 2 North West, so let's see what happened on Saturday 19th February.

Fullerians 27-14 Hampstead

Four first half tries for Fullerians wrapped up a routine win against Hampstead, garnering a bonus point in the process, scoring a further try in the second half whilst Hampstead were able to leave Coningsby Drive with a respectable defeat.

Five different scorers for the home team, with Sam Harrison, George Harvey, James Maher, Liam Boyd and Kieran Cavanagh all on the scoresheet, Dan Evans kicking the solitary conversion.

This takes Fullerians to 59 points, remaining in fourth place, 18 points behind Letchworth in third and 12 points ahead of Old Streetonians in fifth.

Grasshoppers 55-0 Datchworth

A thumping win for Grasshoppers, with Reiss Davison bagging himself a hat-trick to give the West London side some security in mid table, sixth place on 46 points.

With the score 38-0 at the break, Datchworth rallied a little in the second but were unable to pay dividends, Grasshoppers going over for a further three tries before the game was halted early due to an injury to Kieran Ttouli, who thankfully swiftly recovered.

Along with Davison's hat-trick, Aaron Sheehan joined him with three of his own ; there was one each for Ttouli, Jasper Rose and Eddy Fogg. Conor Gilmore was on good kicking form for a personal tally of ten points from five conversions.

Datchworth find themselves in eleventh place, having mustered 15 points from three victories this term, cut adrift from Hampstead on 26 and just above Hackney on 12 points.

H.A.C 59-0 Ruislip

A routine win for H.A.C, who bounced back from defeat against Letchworth to assure themselves of a place in the top three with promotion looking ever more likely, Ruislip falling to a third straight defeat.

H.A.C move back into top spot and are three points clear of Old Priorians and Letchworth on 80, Ruislip in seventh on 38 points.

Hackney 14-29 Enfield Ignatians

Lucas Yoxall became another London 2 North West hat-trick hero as he powered Enfield to another win, complementing their victory over Hemel Hempstead last week.

The flanker was joined by Liam Horn in the try scorer stakes to seal the bonus point, Jake Bates kicking 3 conversions and a penalty for a 29-14 finish. Whilst this was officially a home fixture for Hackney, a waterlogged pitch at Spring Hill meant it was switched to the opposition's Donkey Lane base and may have provided a small advantage.

Hackney remain bottom but under restructure plans could retain their place in London 2 North West ; Enfield's recent good form propels them into eighth place on 38 points.

Hemel Hempstead 27-6 Old Priorians

Top of the table OPRFC were defeated by a fired up Hemel Hempstead who caused an upset at home, Freddie Fletcher's last minute try sealing the bonus point for a famous win.

This loss knocks OPs off top spot, in second place on level points with Letchworth, both having accrued 77 points. Hemel, meanwhile, move to 38 points but are still in ninth place with a game in hand against H.A.C next week.

Letchworth Garden City 22-9 Old Streetonians

Letchworth remain unbeaten at home following this win against Old Streetonians, now equal with Old Priorians on points with the scene potentially set for a showdown at Legends Lane on the last day of the season.

The home side secured a bonus point whilst Old Streetonians remain in fifth on 47, though Grasshoppers are now breathing down their neck with just a point separating the two.

That wraps up this weekend's fixture as we approach the tail end of the season.
