How have you found your first season at OPRFC?
It has been extremely enjoyable. There has been an even mix of challenge and success and I feel the boys have enjoyed themselves this year. The highlight of the season has been working with such a great group of individuals; players, staff and family/friends.
What are you highlights of the campaign? And in the interests of balance, the lowlights?
The win against Fullerians towards the end of the season was pretty good - a place we have historically struggled at. The progress of the Saints has been amazing and certainly the highlight of the campaign; seeing a group of boys really enjoy their rugby, care about each other and then win the title is fantastic.
The lowlights of course would be Fullerians at home, coming so close to an amazing comeback but falling short. And then the first HAC fixture. They will go down as low points in the season but really they will be hugely beneficial next season as we develop as a group.
What do you expect for 2022/23 in London 1 for the Twisters?
I expect us to work harder than any team in the league & play to our potential. We want to continue enjoying our rugby but we will have to change how we do things in order to get a different result in London 1. This is a talented group of players who have the potential to win the league; we need to work hard in pre-season first and not get ahead of ourselves.
If you could pick one game for this season as your favourite, what would it be and why?
Away to Fullerians. It was a big game for both sides, a decent crowd & we had a lot of boys step up due to injury. We showed amazing character and fight, and it showed how much we had progressed from the reverse fixture. It was a game which showed our maturity as a team and it will be a good benchmark for pre-season and London 1 next year.
The Saints vs Hammersmith and Fulham was very good and a close second as my favourite...the Thundercats winning the Floodlit Cup has to be up there too!
